Making the Case for “COVID-19 Prophylaxis” With Lifestyle Medicine

Lifestyle (as) medicine has been increasingly recognized as a powerful therapy for prevention, control, and even reversal/remission of now well-established risk factors for COVID-19-associated morbidity and mortality.1 By lifestyle, in this context, we are primarily referring to effects of nutrition, activity, sleep, and smoking on individual metabolic health factors now clearly shown to be leading comorbidities associated with COVID-19 deaths, including, but not limited to, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and coronary artery disease.
