Joydeep Chakraborty, Ph.D. is a Research Faculty member at the Institute for Connecting Nutrition and Health (ICON-Health) at Florida State University. His primary research focuses on uncovering the mechanisms that underlie peripheral neuropathies and exploring how diet–genotype interactions can help prevent chronic neurological diseases. Using both mice and mammalian cell models, his research integrates metabolic tracking and transcriptomic analyses to better understand diet-responsive conditions.

Before joining Florida State, Dr. Chakraborty was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Texas A&M University in the Department of Nutrition, where he investigated dietary interventions to prevent peripheral neuropathies in mice models of diabetes and birth defects. He earned his Ph.D. jointly from Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where his research centered on the directed evolution of multienzyme complexes, green chemical synthesis, and enzyme kinetics. He completed his bachelor’s degree in biotechnology at the West Bengal University of Technology in India. Dr. Chakraborty is an active member of the American Society of Nutrition and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Outside the lab, he enjoys photography and exploring world history.
